@DENISEDVNG

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with Denise.  It's funny because we have quite a few mutual friends - some from VCU, some from photography groups around here in DC, but nonetheless, it's awesome meeting new people. It's also fun collaborating with someone you haven't met before because you never know what you're gonna get.

Denise was awesome. She knew what she was doing is just an overall fun personality to be around. DC/RVA area photographers, hit her up to collab. You'll def get some good work with her! Shameless plug haha.

I'm still working on my portrait game. I feel like it's never really been a strong suit for me. I've generally been a street/documentary/journalism kind of guy, so being able to grow into portraiture is a fun learning experience. I know I missed some things here like the tighter shots, but still currently working on it. If we had a little more time, I probably would have remembered haha. I'm excited to get more portrait sessions in once the weather becomes warmer. Looking for more people to practice with. Hit me up!

CHURROLOGY.

Had a fun shoot with Anhthu, Regina, and Abby of Churrology over the weekend. Each of these girls is unique in their own special way hahaha. Here are some photos we came up with.

If you like churros, Churrology is the place to be! Their churros are bomb af. The Vietnamese coffee bomb too. if you're ever in the area, definitely go and check them out.

KRISTAN.

Did a shoot with the homie, Kristan over the weekend. We shot for her brand, Vis Vires and also took some photos for her 23rd birthday. Although it wasn't the best of lighting, we did our best to make it work. We shot at the W Hotel in DC before we were told to stop by one of the employees. He said we couldn't do "professional" shoots without permission. Instead of leaving, we just went to the bar and grabbed a drink haha. What was dope though, we ran into Jay Gruden (head coach for the Redskins) while shooting which was pretty funny. Anyways, here's what we came up with.

DIRECTORY.CO SHOOT PARTY

Salutations!

This MLK day was pretty dope. The Directory hosted a "shoot party" at Locale Workspace on H Street in DC.  The event sold out and it was a great turnout. There were models and photographers everywhere. I met a lot of new people which was dope. It's always great networking and meeting new people who share the same passions as you. Def looking forward to shooting with everyone again.

Friends, if you have the slightest interest in hitting up one of these events, let me know! Don't be shy. It's 2018 - shoot your shot.

ANOTHER PIT STOP IN RICHMOND.

The fam and I went down to the 757 for Christmas. On they way back home, we took a little pit stop in Rcihmond. As usual. I'm always down to shoot when I'm in town so I hit up Rasha (again haha) to shoot. We only had about 15 mins and made for a good challenge. I definitely tried to make the best of it.

DAY TRIP TO RICHMOND.

This past weekend, Demi and I were deciding if we should take a day trip to Philly or just go to RVA. We decided on the latter simply because Philly would be too cold haha. It ended up being only aruond 50 degrees in RVA so that was dope. We plan on taking a trip to Philly MLK weekend.

I finally finished a roll of film I had that I first shot a couple months ago. It's been in 3 different cameras. For those of you who don't know, you can move film from camera to camera by rolling it back up and putting it in a different camera. You definitely want to compensate for the shots you've taken already unless you're going for random double exposures. Had a little photo session with Andie that literally lasted 5 mins haha. Was picking up a roll of Ilford HP5 to develop and scan for her. Had my camera on me and had to burn though the last few exposures of my film so we shot for a few mins.

BACK TO THE WEST COAST WE GO.

Earlier this month, I headed back out to California again for the second time this year. It was my grandma's 1-year death anniversary and we were burying the rest for my grandpa (lol) as well. I had an 11-hour layover in LA and got to kick it with some homies. Although it didn't go quite as planned, it was still a decent time. Unforeseen circumstances kinda steered it in a different direction but it was all good. Not to mention, Isabel and Csaba jokingly said we were gonna hike 10 miles. Although they were joking, CSABA AND I DID END UP HIKING. I suppose it was worth the view haha. I'm also sad that I left my mini cajon in LA. Still waiting for Isabel to mail it back haha. I kind of wish I took more "transitional/traveling" photos but oh well. I at least know for next time.

BAD DAD JOKES.

The day after shooting Leo & Lauren's engagement photos, I shot Thy's grad photos.  These were surprisingly fun haha. One of the tricks for great portraits is to have your subject appear to laugh naturally. I had no Idea how to do that so I asked Thy. She said to tell her some dad jokes. They were terrible, but they worked LOL. One of my favorite photos I've ever taken were from this shoot. VCU even posted it to their instagram which was pretty cool.

Feel free to hit me up for your shoots!

LEO & LAUREN

A little over a month ago, (damn a month, dawg?!) I had the pleasure of going down to Richmond and shooting Leo & Lauren's (AKA LP2) engagement photos. The moment they told me about their engagement, I said LET ME SHOOT YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS FOR FREE. I honestly couldn't have been happier shooting for these two. I haven't had a shoot this fun in a while. It was great cause the whole crew was with us haha. It was basically a group effort for this shoot. Anyways, congratulations, you guys! We gotta do part two soon!

DIRECTORY.CO

Finally got to shoot with the homies from directory.co again! It's literally been months since I saw Kristan and Marcus. It's always a good time shooting with them. This time was extra dope since we shot in a studio. I brought along my homie, Mac. I frequent other photo meetups but this was actually both our first time with directory.co. Can't wait for the next one.
