APPLE & ELI.

I went out west back in November (the same day I shot Ria in the previous post haha) for my grandmother’s death anniversary. While out there, I finally met up with Apple and her son, Elijah. It’s literally been years in the making. I remember first meeting Apple on tumblr about 10 years ago lmao. It’s wild meeting people for the first time in life after knowing them online for years and even close to a decade. Either way, it was dope. We had a little mother & son shoot at Quarry Park in Rocklin.

RIA.

Back in November, I did a shoot with one of my good friends, Ria. I forgot I never posted these to my flickr/blog. It was fun kicking it again since it’s literally been years and it was even more fun that we actually got to shoot. This was our first shoot and it went pretty well. Super fun time even though it was freaking cold.

CHAE.

A couple weeks ago, I finally shot with my homegirl, Chae. It’s literally been months in the making and it was worth the wait. It’s refreshing to shoot with friends who have experience in modeling. Chae definitely knew what she was doing and it made the whole shoot go super smooth like butter, @chaeebutter. LOL.

It’s been months since I last did a shoot that wasn’t a wedding or for some type of event/family portrait gig so this was definitely much needed. Anyways, hope you enjoy the photos. I’m always looking for people to shoot with. Male, female, experience, no experience, it doesn’t matter. I just want to shoot. Drop me a line!

CHASING LIGHT.

Over the summer, I was lucky enough to join a photo walk with Pete Halvorsen and hosted by Leica Store DC. It was my first time ever shooting with a digital Leica and DAMN, I want one. I was shooting with the Leica M-D (Type 262). What's dope about this camera is that although it's a digital camera, it doesn't have a screen to look at photos during or after taking them. It's kind of like shooting film. You take some photos but don't know what they look like until you review them.

The models were amazing. They were great and knew exactly what they were doing. You can check out Anna and Andrea

VANCE GRADUATED.

I'm trying to catch up on months of missed blogged posts haha. Vance asked me to do her grad photos and this is some of what turned out.

PRESIDENTIAL.

Hit up Hirshhorn and the National Portrait Gallery with Mark when he was up here for Tiny Desk. Definitely need to spend more time at the portrait gallery.  Here some phtoos.

BROCCOLI CITY.

Broccoli City was dope. It was the Coachella of the East Coast. I guess since it was in DC, you could call it "Moechella." Ha ha ha. If you don't get it, oh well.

The festival experience was trash and poorly planned by Broccoli city. Logistics was terrible. Only one line for water lmao. All the lines to everywhere else (except the bathrooms which was great btw) were hella long. People were foregoing food and water because lines were too long. Some even passed out. Other than that, it was a decent time with friends and fam. Miguel straight up KILT it.

KAYLA & BAM BAM

A couple weeks ago I shot with Kayla and her lil' pup, Bam Bam. I was contacted by a company through Instagram to take some photos of their merch with a model and a dog and in exchange, I would get to keep what they sent me. I put it off to the last minute and had to rush haha. It was pretty chilly and hella windy but I was able to get some decent shots. I told Kayla that if she modeled for me, I'd give her her own shoot with Bam Bam. Most of these are from that haha.

VALERIE X VIS VIRES.

Last month, Kristan hit me up to shoot with Valerie for her clothing brand, Vis Vires. Let me tell you, this was probably one of my favorite shoots I've ever shot. Vibe was great and the location and lighting was on point. I thought the photos turned out pretty well.

Valerie was a dope model. She basically did all the work and I just pressed the shutter. She definitely knows what she's doing. It was a nice change to work with an actual model. I'm terrible at posing so it was great that she knew her craft and it was easy to capture it. Looking forward to working again with her in the future!

I shot both film and digital for this shoot. It was my first shoot with the newly acquired Fuji GA645. Yep. I'm back to medium format. Finally! It's not the 6x6 that I was used to with the Hasselblad, but this camera is hella fun. It's basically a point and shoot "rangefinder" in 645 format. Absolutely love it.

WEDNESDAY WITH THE HOMIE.

Last week I hung out with on of my great friends, Shelly. It's been forever since we last kicked it so it was nice being able to finally hang out. We had lunch and an impromptu shoot in DC. We hit up Jumbo Slice, Insomnia Cookies, Tryst,  and even Major. It was def well needed. We did want to hit up the cherry blossoms but it was way too damn cold and the cherry blossoms are blooming a bit later than expected this year. Anyways, here are some photos.
